PAGASA Raised Signal No. 1 in 12 Areas

 "Tropical Storm 'Dindo' may make landfall over Batanes before Friday," said by PAGASA weather forecaster. Due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, Metro Manila may feel the effects of tropical storm "Dindo" through heavy rain.

Weather forecaster Ricky Fabregas said in an interview on dzBB radio, "Bukas may epekto na ang southwest monsoon sa Metro Manila."

He said, "Inaasahan natin ang isla sa Batanes maari bago dumating ang Biyernes daanan ni 'Dindo' kung patuloy siya kikilos west-northwest."

The 12 areas were placed under storm signal number 1:

Batanes Group of Islands
Calayan Island
Ilocos Norte
Apayao
Abra
Kalinga
Ilocos Sur
Mt. Province
Aurora
Ifugao
Nueva Viscaya
Quirino

While storm signal number 2 was hoisted over Cagayan and Isabela provinces.

According to PAGASA weather bulletin, "At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm "DINDO" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 480 km east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (15.1°N, 129.0°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 19 kph. Southwest monsoon affecting Visayas and Mindanao. "

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Dindo is forecast to be 220 kms northeast of Casiguran, Aurora by Thursday morning. It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Saturday.
